A car on an empty mountain road in Armenia

Private & tailor-made

Your own car, your own guide, your own pace

Every tour we run can be private. You choose the start time, the stops, how long you linger, and whether to skip the thing that does not interest you.

What changes

Mostly, the day stops being a schedule

On a group tour we have to be back in the van at a stated time, because fifteen other people are waiting. On a private day we do not. If the light at Noravank is extraordinary, we stay. If a village wedding spills into the road, we watch it. If you have had enough of monasteries by two o'clock, we say so out loud and go and eat instead.

It also means we can start at six for the light, or at eleven because you are on holiday.

What is included

  • A vehicle sized to your party, with a professional driver
  • A licensed guide working in your language
  • Hotel pickup and drop-off anywhere in Yerevan, at any hour
  • A route agreed with you in advance and changeable on the day
  • Fuel, parking and road tolls
  • Bottled water

Indicative pricing

What a private day costs

Party sizePer vehicle, per day
1–3 peoplefrom €99
4–7 peoplefrom €149

Prices are for the whole vehicle and guide, not per person, and vary with distance — Tatev costs more than Garni because it is 250 kilometres further. Entrance fees and meals are extra.

When private is worth it

Four situations where we always recommend it

Four or more of you

From about four people the cost per head is close to a group seat, and you get the whole day to yourselves.

You photograph

Group timings are the enemy of good light. Private means dawn at Khor Virap and staying until the sun has actually gone.

Someone needs a slower day

Reduced mobility, small children, a heart condition, or simply not wanting to be marched. We build the day around it rather than apologising for it.

You want something specific

Ancestral villages, birdwatching, Soviet modernism, a particular winemaker. If it exists here, we can usually find it.
