Armenia in Brief
YerevanGarni & GeghardKhor VirapAreniLake Sevan
The essential country in four days — Yerevan, the two great monasteries of the Azat valley, Ararat from the plain, and Lake Sevan.

Orient Signature
Some of Armenia’s best experiences begin after sunset — an observatory village, a fortress on a volcano, dinners that run long, and skies with nothing in the way.

Who this suitsCouples, photographers, and families with children old enough to stay up. Plan it for a new-moon week — we will tell you which those are.
Please noteClear skies are a forecast, not a promise. If the stargazing night looks cloudy we tell you in advance and either swap the days around or make it a long village evening — which has never yet been a disappointment. The Kari Lake road opens mid-June to early October; outside that window the day ends at Amberd.
Arrival, an easy afternoon, and the city’s own night show: Republic Square’s singing fountains, Northern Avenue full of people, and a set in a basement jazz club — a Yerevan tradition since the 1930s.
The Azat valley by day — the temple, the basalt columns, Geghard’s carved chapels and their long echo — with a lavash lunch in the village. Evening free in Yerevan; tomorrow is the late one.
Up Aragats in the afternoon: the Alphabet Monument, Amberd fortress in the late light — the hour photographers wait for. Then a village dinner in Byurakan, astronomy stories over coffee, and the sky itself: a guided walk across it, and tripod time for anyone shooting. We sleep in the village rather than driving back in the dark.
For the early risers, dawn light on the mountain. Then the road up to Kari Lake at about 3,190 metres — black scree, snow patches, and the cosmic-ray station that has watched the sky since 1943 — before the drive down to Yerevan and your flight.
